Merry Christmas CMS,

Could there be a better way to ring in the holidays and the New Year than with the announcement that the City has agreed to partner with us in the restoration of both their De Havilland Mosquito and Hawker Hurricane?

On December 21, the City of Calgary informed the CMS Board of Directors that, " the Calgary Mosquito Society has been selected as the Highest Evaluated Bidder on the above captioned bid."

So there we have it. After four years of lobbying, educating, meeting and debating the CMS is victorious in our efforts to see the Mosquito and Hurricane restored and finally placed on public display.

It'll be some time in the New Year before the City and CMS can sign the necessary agreements after which the airplanes will be handed over to us. In the meantime, we'll be able to move forward with our charitable status (hooray for tax receipts) as well as our application to the Alberta lottery board.

On behalf of everyone on the CMS Board of Directors, I'd like to congratulate each one of our 440 members and wish you all the best over the holidays and a healthy, happy and prosperous 2012.

Trevor McTavish
CMS Director
